Stop spreading salt by hand and increase efficiency with one of our walk-behind salt spreaders. AJ’s Truck & Trailer Center is here to help you with all your snow removal equipment needs, especially when the snow falls and the roads freeze. We offer professional-grade products for even the smallest applications.
For small to medium sidewalk projects, the walk behind salt spreader is the perfect fit. While spreading salt from this spreader isn’t automated like the other types, these can get into small spaces and can finish the edges near garage doors and front doors, helping people to get in and out of their homes safely. These units can typically carry just over two cubic feet of salt. Polyethylene-constructed drop spreaders and broadcast spreaders will complete any snow and ice management operation nicely.
Broadcast Spreaders vs. Drop Spreaders
Not all walk-behind spreaders are the same. You can choose from a Drop Spreader and a Broadcast Spreader. Here the difference between the two:
Direct Drop Spreaders:
The lever on the handle opens and closes a slot across the entire bottom of the spreader and the sand/salt will drop directly to the ground. Drop Spreaders usually offer more control over where the material is dropped, this may be helpful if you wish to salt narrow paths and do not want the salt to get into the surrounding underlying lawn/plants.
In a Broadcast Spreader, the lever controls an opening that drops material onto a disc that is engaged to the wheel axle via gears, this disc is spun to distribute the material over a wide area, allowing larger paths to be covered in a single pass.
