Its the dreaded 7 way RV plug that we all have come to know and love. Most new vehicles equipped with a tow package have them, and trailers with electric brakes need them too. And we are all too familiar with the accidents we have with them. Forgetting to unplug and pulling away, dragging it on the ground. At one point in time, they will all need repaired.
There has been lots of confusion about how to wire one of these plugs. I am going to do my best to simplify that, mainly with a good, color coded diagram. Print this out and keep it in your tool box for future reference.
When referencing the diagram, make sure you are looking at the plug the way the diagram is showing you. We don’t want the wires backwards. And keep in mind that it isn’t always as simple as matching the colors like you might be inclined to do. And don’t hesitate to call us if you ever get into a bind. We are here to help, don’t feel bad, we have all been there at one point or another.
Best of luck and happy towing to you!
